Chocolate is bad for doggos!

But it won’t kill them if they have a tiny bite! It is true that chocolate is toxic to both dogs and cats! But this is rarely fatal. What? But you have heard that chocolate can kill dogs? It can but at an unlikely dose! To actually kill your dog you would have to give a dog quite a large amount of chocolate, and most likely they would be sick or full far before they even reach the fatal dose. So why is chocolate considered fatal to dogs? Most likely because you have heard someone with a dog or a vet tell you that chocolate can kill dogs. While this is true, it doesn’t mean a small bite they sneaked when you weren’t looking will definitely kill them. Why exactly are chocolates toxic to doggos? There is a chemical called Theobromine which is present in chocolates which is on its own quite a useful chemical. It is used medicinally as a muscle relaxant, heart stimulant, diuretic and blood vessel dilator. But for dogs this is toxic. Why? Because they can’t digest this chemical as well as us hoomans. Caffeine has a similar effect on dogs as Theobromine.
